Sawtooth Supplement Science is built around a simple belief: livestock nutrition should be grounded in real science, high-quality ingredients, and honest standards. Our goal is to help families feed and develop animals with greater confidence, consistency, and results.

Our Story

Sawtooth Supplement Science began with a simple observation: many livestock supplements on the market were being built around marketing claims and cost-cutting rather than real nutritional value.

Founder Caleb Johnston saw an opportunity to approach supplementation differently. With a background in chemistry, biochemistry, and animal nutrition, he set out to create products guided by scientific research and built with higher-quality ingredients.

What started as a small operation focused on doing things the right way, has grown into a brand trusted by many livestock producers who want more consistency and transparency in what they feed their animals with.

From the beginning, the mission has remained the same: raise the standard for livestock supplements and provide products families can rely on.

Welcome to Sawtooth Supplement Science. I’m Caleb Johnston, owner and operator around here. I formulate each product from scratch, manage all social media, field customer questions, and pack and ship orders.

I graduated from Boise State University spring of 2022 with my BS in Chemistry, emphasis in Biochemistry, and minor in Biology. I received my Master’s in Ruminant Nutrition from Oklahoma State University spring of 2024.

You’ll notice that “Science” is tacked onto the end of our name; that is because, from my earliest memory, I’ve always wanted to know why and how things in the world work. I will spend hours poring over scientific literature and have no problem spending years, if needed, in the testing phase to ensure I get a product right.

Caleb develops every Sawtooth product from the ground up, drawing on his background in chemistry, biochemistry, and ruminant nutrition. He also manages product development, research, and much of the day-to-day direction of the company.

Jessica helps customers find the right products and answers questions along the way. Her role ensures that producers receive clear guidance and reliable support when working with Sawtooth products.

Amanda Austin

Order Fulfillment

Amanda manages the preparation and shipping of orders, helping ensure products arrive quickly and accurately so customers can keep their feeding programs running smoothly.

Mackenzie Waters

Order Fulfillment

Mackenzie assists with preparing and packing orders, helping maintain the efficiency and care that goes into every shipment leaving Sawtooth.

Sawtooth Cares

From the moment Sawtooth began gaining traction, giving back became an important part of the company’s mission. At the end of the day, a business is remembered not only for the products it creates, but for the impact it leaves behind.

Sawtooth is proud to support Idaho Youth Ranch, an organization dedicated to helping children and families across Idaho. Since 1953, Idaho Youth Ranch has provided programs and services that nurture hope, healing, and resilience for young people facing difficult circumstances. Their work includes emergency shelter, residential care, youth and family therapy, job readiness training, adoption services, and more; all aimed at helping kids and families build a stronger future.

Supporting organizations like Idaho Youth Ranch is one small way Sawtooth hopes to give back to the communities that support us.
