Frequently asked questions

General Questions

What product should I start with?

Sawtooth Core! It is our flagship product for a reason. We strongly recommend every animal on feed be on Sawtooth Core from the day they enter your barn. It will provide more benefits (and value) than any other product on the market, including gut health and appetite, immune health and response, hide and hair health, hair growth, and more. From there, it will depend on your animals’ needs! No two animals are fed the same. Reach out to us and we can help narrow down the best options for you.

How fast will I get my order?

We do our very best to be expeditious in getting orders out the door. That said, once orders are in the hands of couriers, we have no control over delivery times. The best bet to having your order go out in a timely manner is to ORDER SUNDAY THROUGH THURSDAY NIGHTS TO HAVE YOUR ORDER SHIPPED THE NEXT DAY!

Please note, all guaranteed delivery services (2nd Day Air, 3 Day Select) are BUSINESS DAYS. This means if an order is shipped Friday via 2nd Day Air, it is not supposed to arrive to you until the following Tuesday. We recommend 3 Day Select, as it moves as “ground express”, often getting to the final destination a day early and generally includes Saturday delivery.

Are any purchases final sale?

All sales are final. Needing help using our products? Reach out and we will do everything we can to help you have a positive feeding experience.

Where are your products manufactured?

All products are manufactured locally, where quality and standards can be maintained. Ingredients are sourced domestically and internationally, wherever the most consistent quality and value are found.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping is calculated based on your location and the items in your order. You will always know the shipping price before you purchase.

How much should I feed?

We recommend starting ALL products at a partial dose and working animals up to their appropriate dose over the course of at least one week.

If my feed is dry, what can I do to help supplements stick to it? You can do a few things to help supplements stick to feed:

  • DON’T FEED TOO MANY SUPPLEMENTS, TOO FAST! Our first recommendation is the slow introduction of products, one at a time. This generally avoids intake issues as a whole.
  • Use a little Sweetcoat to coat feed. This can also help with overall palatability!
Wet feed. If drenching is not allowed at your show, this can double as your way to keep them hydrated and looking their best.
  • Use a spray bottle. If your animals don’t like their feed floating around in their feeder, spraying with water to get enough dampness for supplements to stick is a good alternative.

Sawtooth Core

What does Sawtooth Core do?

We created Sawtooth Core as a product that helps cover all the bases. In short, Sawtooth Core will provide support for: gut health and appetite, immune health and response (as well as resistance to fungus and other crud, within reason), hide and hair health, hair growth, and more into a single product.

What is Sawtooth Core and How Does it Compare to Other Products?

The fundamental concept behind Sawtooth Core is simplification without compromise. No family says, "Sure, give me gut health, but I couldn't care less about hair growth or their immune system." I also believe that no family should be forced to choose between two products due to finances. Lastly, there is no good reason to turn feeding into a chemistry lab; if you cannot explain how to feed to an eight-year-old, it needs simplified.

I took care of the science so you don't have to.

Sawtooth Core combines the following:

  • Potent probiotic/enzyme pack that is both more comprehensive and contains higher CFUs than nearly everything on the market
  • Multiple feed sources to ensure gut bacteria flourish
  • Yucca to help manage protozoal activity (including coccidiosis)
  • Zinpro Zinc and Manganese, Biotin, Vitamin E, Melatonin, and Tryptophan to maximize hide and hair health and hair growth
  • Farmatan and MOS to optimize immune health and response
  • Trace mineral pack to ward off any deficiencies that would greatly impact the animal
  • Kelp meal, betaine, and electrolytes to assist with heat stress

In addition, all rumen degradable active ingredients are encapsulated to ensure maximum delivery to the animal. Not feeding a ruminant? No need to worry, this will not affect their ability to get all of the nutrients.

If you're keeping track, that is a pile of benefits. We did the math, and it would cost more $5.65/day to replace Sawtooth Core.

Sawtooth Core can be fed for as little as $0.75/day. There's a reason I named it Sawtooth Core; it is a product that should be the cornerstone to every barn out there!

Alpha

What is Alpha?

Alpha takes our flagship product, Sawtooth Core, and adds another 10+ active ingredients to support fertility and sexual development.

Will Alpha guarantee my animals’ fertility?

NO! There is no silver bullet when it comes to animal fertility. Genetics, age, environment, nutrition, and management all greatly affect reproductive performance. We recommend reducing stress (heat and environmental), optimizing nutrition, and dial in facility cleanliness and management prior to adding Alpha. Once these foundational components are in place, Alpha will support greatly in speeding up sexual development and rectifying sub-fertility and semen morphology, motility, and concentration issues.

Can I use Alpha instead of Sawtooth Core?

Definitely! Think of Alpha as Sawtooth Core on steroids.

Prowl

How much Prowl should I feed?

If you are simply wanting to maintain structural integrity and mobility, follow instructions on the bag. If you are working with compromised mobility, injury, or less than desired joint health and mobility, we recommend feeding 2-3x the dose. This will (hopefully) reverse conditions in time before long lasting damage occurs.

Sweetcoat

Can I use Sweetcoat in my drench?

Absolutely! If you’ve got a homemade drench recipe you’re partial to (we recommend Platinum Punch and Redfish), this will be a higher quality replacement for any high calorie liquid.

Can I use Sweetcoat long-term?

If you are seeking a long-term fat supplement, we suggest Cake Batter! When feeding Sweetcoat, it’s usually best short term (think 7-14 days).

Bulk Up

How much Bulk Up should I feed?

When it comes to Bulk Up, the more the merrier! Additional scoops will assist in adding additional mass and shape.

When should I feed Bulk Up?

Bulk Up can be used in all phases of feeding!

  • Early feeding period: Feed the directed amount on the back of the bag to add bloom and mass for early shows without getting animals too fat, too early.
  • Middle feeding period: Feed 1-2x the directed amount and pair with rigorous exercise (once in adequate condition) to maximize support for muscle growth, muscle recovery, and muscle stamina.
  • Late feeding period/holding: Feed 2-3x the directed amount, restrict feed to slow gain, and pair with rigorous exercise to maintain shape and mass while slowing gain.
What makes Bulk Up different?

While other products simply rely on a blend of protein and fat sources, Bulk Up leverages Gamma Oryzanol and Policosanol as true actives that have been clinically shown to improve muscle growth, strength, muscle stamina, and muscle recovery. Bulk Up pairs these actives with top tier protein and fat sources like whole egg, whey protein concentrate, and coconut and MCT oils to provide optimal support for mass and muscle.

Redfish

How is Redfish different from other electrolytes?

Redfish is a dextrose-based electrolyte, improving absorption and utilization while also making it harder to over-do (think tie ups in pigs). We designed the product to also provide vitamins, minerals, and amino acids to support your animals during times of stress (heat, transport, shows, etc.).

Can this replace the electrolyte in my drench?

Absolutely! Redfish can be utilized daily on feed or in drinking water, during times of stress, and in drench! One scoop of Redfish will replace a packet of popular electrolyte.

Can I feed Redfish?

Absolutely! Redfish can be top dressed on feed, used in drinking water, or mixed into drench. When top dressing on feed, we recommend 1/4 scoop per feeding for animals under 100 lbs, 1/2 scoop for animals over 100 lbs, and a full scoop for all animals over 900 lbs.

When should I use Redfish paste?

We like Redfish paste as a convenient way to get your animals their electrolytes while on the go, without having to mix with water. When at show, Redfish paste allows you to easily give a set amount of electrolytes to your animals while adjusting drench and water as needed.

Melatonin Pellets

What makes Sawtooth’s melatonin pellets different from the competition?

We utilize a pharmaceutical grade cellulose-based matrix as our binder, providing a precise time release without any residue, meaning no silicone wrapping will be left behind!

All pellets are pressed using custom dies, resulting in a consistent, superior product without varying shapes, sizes, and lengths.

How many will I need at a time?

For animals under 100 lbs, we recommend applying one pellet, once a month. Over 100 lbs, we like using two per application. For larger animals, as many as four pellets can be administered monthly.

Do I have to buy an applicator?

No, each 6-pack comes with an applicator, and each 60-pack comes with 5. If you are wanting more, applicators can be ordered separately.

Cake Batter

Do I use this or Sweetcoat?

We recommend Sweetcoat for short term use, like in drinking water or drench, or using it as a binder to help supplements stick to feed. Cake Batter is our go-to for a long-term fat supplement, adding smooth, firm fat and bloom to animals that are behind on condition, without pushing them off of feed.

Will this push animals off of feed?

No! One of the greatest advantages of Cake Batter is the ability to feed it long term without negative effects. It is also very palatable, helping encourage picky animals to eat more and help them catch up.

Chill Out

Why is Chill Out different?

Other calming pastes and products rely on one or two active ingredients to support calming, making animal response varied and inconsistent. Chill Out utilizes a wide array of actives to ensure optimal calming support, regardless of animal.

How do I get the best results possible?

We recommend trying Chill Out at home, to help you dial in dosage for each animal's response. Chill Out’s effects are best given in loading doses. When show time comes, start the night before you leave for the show, giving a dose morning and night through morning of the show. If needed, an additional dose can be given 30 minutes prior to showing.
